NYT Studio Classes

NYT’s fall classes will leave students with life skills that will assist them in all of their endeavors. Our instructors are high energy, motivating, and passionate about what they teach. They will ensure that every student is challenged and has the opportunity to reach their personal potential. NYT instructors are experienced and professional and have been chosen not only for their knowledge, but also because of their love of God.

Pricing structure: $55 for first class in a family, $45 for every class per family after that. Classes are billed monthly. There is a $35 registration fee per student.

CLASS SCHEDULE

4:30-5:30 P.M. CLASSES

4–5-year-old Movement
This class will focus on the different elements of movement and allow for creative exploration. Students will focus on basic foundations of dance while also having the opportunity to enjoy and create movement of their own. This creative dance class is in preparation for a more structured technique in the older classes.

Jazz/Tap (Ages: 8-9)
This technique class will combine the structure and discipline of Ballet with the classic and upbeat style of jazz. It will include intentional time spent on the foundational elements of movement while also giving attention to combinations and across the floor variations where students can work on combining technical components and performing them. The last 15 minutes of class will be dedicated to tap where we will introduce the basics of technical tap and its vocabulary, while developing rhythm and coordination. Tap and jazz shoes are required for this class.

Tap
(Ages: 10-12)
This class will focus on learning the basics of technical tap and its vocabulary, while developing rhythm and coordination.  Each class is designed to improve a student’s timing, sound clarity, and ability to find rhythms and beats.  Basic steps and combinations will be introduced.  Class exercises will help students gain the flexibility and strength of the ankles and knees which is needed for more complex combinations and increased speed. Tap shoes are required for this class.

5:40-6:40 P.M. CLASSES

6–7-year-old Jazz
This beginning jazz class will combine elements of ballet and jazz to create a strong technical foundation of dance from which to grow from. The students will be engaged in learning basic jazz technique, beginning turns, leaps, and combinations.

Jazz Technique with Ballet Foundations
(Ages: 10-12) – FULL

(Ages: 13-19)

6:40-7:00 P.M. WORSHIP (OPTIONAL WORSHIP BEFORE AND AFTER CLASSES)

Drama/Improv (Ages: 10-12) – FULL
Take your acting to the next level with Improv training. The building blocks for character development, scene partner connection and sketch playwriting all come from an understanding of the rules of improv and drama games developed by Viola Spolin. The improvisational acting movement led to the success of iconic names like Second City, Comedy Sportz, SNL, The Groundlings and many others. Many of the most respected comedians and comic actors come from an improv background. This class will cover all of the building blocks for improv and study and learn a dozen of the top improv games developed by Spolin and others.

(Ages: 13-19, Beginner Level) – FULL
This technique class will combine the structure and discipline of Ballet with the classic and upbeat style of jazz. 8:20-9:20 P.M. CLASSES

Partnering and Swing (Ages: 13-19) – FULL
This class will focus on element of ballroom, swing, and basic partnering lifts and co-ordination. We will progress through different styles of dance to strengthen the dancer’s ability to move along with a partner and learn the basics of lifts.
