In the beautiful mountainous kingdom of Arendelle, Princesses Anna and Elsa grow up sheltered inside their castle, isolated from the world and increasingly distant from each other. When Elsa is crowned queen, the magical powers she’s desperately tried to conceal from her sister take control, and she flees into the mountains. As a ferocious winter descends on Arendelle, Anna sets off on an epic journey to find Elsa and bring her home – with the help of hardworking ice harvester Kristoff, his loyal reindeer Sven, and a happy-go-lucky snowman named Olaf.
Full of magic, humor, and a stunning musical score, Frozen is a powerful tale of sisterhood, acceptance, and finding the real meaning of true love.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
ELSA
Female | Stage Age: Late Teens to Early 20s | Vocal Range: E3–E♭5
Elsa isn’t cold—she’s afraid. She loves Anna more than anyone in the world but believes the only way to protect her is to keep her at a distance. Every choice she makes comes from that tension between fear and love.
We’re looking for a mature actor with the emotional depth to carry Elsa’s journey from fear and isolation to confidence and freedom. Vocally, Elsa requires a mature singer with a powerful belt, a strong mix, and a confident head voice. Her technique should be so well developed that transitions between registers are seamless, with a consistent tone, breath support, and vocal quality throughout her range.
Much of Frozen‘s story is told through its music, so storytelling doesn’t stop when the dialogue ends. Every lyric matters. Clear, intentional diction is essential, allowing the audience to understand every word while remaining completely immersed in the story.
ANNA
Female | Stage Age: Late Teens to Early 20s | Vocal Range: G3–E5
Hope is Anna’s greatest strength. After years of closed doors and unanswered questions, she never stops believing her sister will open the door. Even after loss, betrayal, and heartbreak, she refuses to let disappointment harden her heart. Anna throws herself into life with genuine excitement, awkwardness, and an open heart, growing into a courageous, selfless young woman without ever losing the hope that defines her.
We’re looking for an actor with natural comedic instincts, warmth, and authenticity. Anna is funny because she’s genuine—not because she’s trying to be. The audience should fall in love with her almost immediately.
Vocally, Anna requires a mature singer with a healthy, connected mix, a confident belt, and the stamina to carry one of the largest roles in the show. Seamless transitions between registers is crucial. Much of her music is conversational, so she should move effortlessly between speech-like phrasing and sustained singing without ever sacrificing vocal freedom, beauty, or consistency. Because much of Frozen is told through its music, storytelling doesn’t stop when the dialogue ends. Every lyric matters. We’re looking for a singer whose diction is so clear and intentional that the audience never misses a word. Crisp consonants, and expressive storytelling are essential. Strong dance skills are preferred.
KRISTOFF
Male | Stage Age: Late Teens to Early 20s | Vocal Range: A2–B♭4
Kristoff doesn’t need to impress anyone. Honest, dependable, and genuine, he’s far more comfortable around reindeer than people. He doesn’t always know the right thing to say, but when it matters most, he shows up. He’s the kind of person you can always count on, and that quiet strength is what makes him so easy to trust.
We’re looking for an actor with natural warmth, dry comedic timing, and the ability to balance humor with genuine heart. Kristoff isn’t flashy, and he shouldn’t try to be. His sincerity is what makes him so endearing. Strong movement skills are important, along with believable chemistry with Anna.
Vocally, Kristoff requires a mature singer with a warm, rich vocal tone and honest, conversational storytelling. His songs should feel effortless, sincere, and grounded, reflecting the steady, dependable character at the heart of the role. Clear diction and authentic storytelling are essential. Dance skills are preferred.
HANS
Male | Stage Age: Late Teens to Early 20s | Vocal Range: A2–A4
Hans convinces everyone he’s the hero. Charming, kind, confident, and genuinely easy to like, he should feel like the prince Anna—and the audience—have been waiting for. If you’ve never seen Frozen, you should be rooting for Anna to choose Hans.
We’re looking for a naturally charismatic actor with confidence, warmth, and effortless charm. Hans should never hint at the ending or play the villain. The betrayal only works if the audience trusts him completely. Strong movement skills, believable chemistry with Anna, and the presence of a leading man are all essential.
Vocally, Hans requires a mature singer with an open, warm, confident sound and the ability to tell the story with honesty and sincerity. His voice should invite the audience to trust him, never giving away what comes later. Clear diction, expressive storytelling, and a polished contemporary style are essential. Partnering skills are preferred.
OLAF
Male or Female | Stage Age: Any | Vocal Range: B2–B♭4 (Tenor) or E3–E♭5 (Alto)
Olaf finds wonder in everything. He approaches the world with genuine curiosity, unwavering optimism, and an open heart. He’s funny because everything he says is completely sincere, never because he’s trying to get a laugh. Beneath the comedy is one of the wisest characters in the show, reminding us that love, joy, and kindness are never weaknesses.
We’re looking for an actor with natural comedic timing, warmth, and heart. Olaf should immediately feel lovable, genuine, and full of life. Because this production will use a Broadway-style human-sized Olaf puppet, strong puppeteering skills, physical coordination, and the ability to create believable life through the puppet are just as important as the performance itself.
Vocally, Olaf requires a mature character singer with a bright, animated, speech-driven sound that feels close to the style of the film. The voice should be playful, distinctive, and immediately recognizable as Olaf without becoming nasal, forced, or difficult to understand. Clear diction, vocal stamina, and the ability to maintain the character voice consistently while still singing with healthy technique are essential.
PABBIE
Male | Stage Age: Adult | Vocal Range: A♭2–G♭4
Pabbie sees what others cannot. Calm, compassionate, and deeply wise, he recognizes the truth beneath the surface and gently guides others toward it. He never leads through fear or authority, but with quiet confidence, love, and understanding.
We’re looking for an actor with a grounded presence and quiet strength. Pabbie doesn’t need to command the room with volume or personality—people naturally listen when he speaks. His wisdom should feel genuine, never preachy or overly mysterious.
Vocally, Pabbie requires a mature singer with a rich, resonant tone, a strong belt, and the ability to communicate warmth, authority, and compassion. Clear storytelling is essential. Dance skills are preferred.
BULDA
Female | Stage Age: Adult | Vocal Range: B♭3–D5
Bulda never meets a stranger. Warm, joyful, and endlessly welcoming, she has a way of making everyone feel like they belong. She loves with her whole heart, and when Bulda decides you’re family, there’s nothing you can do about it.
We’re looking for an actor with warmth, natural comedic instincts, and a big personality rooted in genuine love rather than exaggeration. Her humor comes from her enthusiasm, confidence, and complete certainty that she knows what is best for everyone around her.
Vocally, Bulda requires a mature singer with a powerful belt, a warm, commanding vocal presence, and expressive storytelling. Her voice should be joyful, confident, and full of life. Clear diction and strong dance skills are important for this role.
WESELTON
Male | Stage Age: Adult | Vocal Range: F3–A4
Weselton wants everyone to think he’s important. Beneath the bluster is a deeply insecure man who believes respect can be earned through power, status, and intimidation. His insecurity drives nearly everything he does, causing him to overcompensate in almost every situation.
We’re looking for an actor with excellent comedic timing who can create a memorable character without turning him into a cartoon. Weselton is pompous, dramatic, and endlessly self-important, but he never believes he’s the joke. The more seriously he takes himself, the funnier he becomes. Strong physical comedy and movement skills are a plus.
Vocally, Weselton requires a mature character singer with expressive storytelling and clear diction. A polished singing voice is less important than creating a believable, entertaining character who fully commits to every moment.
YOUNG ELSA
Female | Stage Age: 8–10 | Vocal Range: A3–E5
Young Elsa loves to laugh, play, and create magical adventures with her sister. While she’s a little more cautious than Anna, she shares her imagination, joy, and love of adventure until one heartbreaking moment changes everything. After accidentally hurting Anna, the carefree little girl we met begins to withdraw, convinced that the best way to protect the person she loves most is to stay away.
We’re looking for a young actor who can naturally portray both the joyful innocence of Elsa’s childhood and the fear that follows the accident. Her relationship with Young Anna should feel genuine, playful, and deeply loving from the very beginning so the audience understands everything that’s lost.
Vocally, Young Elsa requires a confident young singer with a healthy, age-appropriate tone, expressive storytelling, and clear diction. More important than vocal power is the ability to communicate honest emotion through both dialogue and song. Natural stage presence, strong movement skills, and believable chemistry with Young Anna are essential.
YOUNG ANNA
Female | Stage Age: 8–10 | Vocal Range: B♭3–E5
Young Anna believes every closed door will eventually open. Imaginative, energetic, and full of joy, she adores her sister and wants nothing more than to spend every moment together. Even after Elsa begins to pull away, Anna never stops believing they’ll laugh, play, and be close again.
We’re looking for a young actor with natural warmth, curiosity, and an infectious sense of joy. Young Anna should feel playful, genuine, and completely herself. Her hope is never forced or naïve—it comes from the unconditional love she has for her sister. The relationship between Young Anna and Young Elsa should feel so authentic that the audience immediately believes they are best friends.
Vocally, Young Anna requires a confident young singer with a bright, youthful tone, expressive storytelling, and clear diction. More important than vocal power is the ability to communicate joy, hope, and honest emotion through both dialogue and song. Natural stage presence, strong movement skills, and believable chemistry with Young Elsa are essential.
OAKEN
Male | Stage Age: Adult | Vocal Range: C3–A4
Oaken makes everyone feel at home. Warm, cheerful, and genuinely kind, he welcomes everyone who walks through his door with joyful enthusiasm. Beneath his larger-than-life personality is someone who truly enjoys taking care of people and making them feel like family.
We’re looking for an actor with natural comedic timing, warmth, and an engaging stage presence. Oaken’s humor should come from his confidence, generosity, and complete sincerity rather than from forcing the comedy. A clear, consistent Scandinavian-inspired dialect is important and should be maintained throughout both dialogue and singing.
Vocally, Oaken requires a mature character singer with a warm, resonant voice, clear diction, and expressive storytelling. Strong movement skills are a plus.
KING AGNARR
Male | Stage Age: 30s–40s | Vocal Range: F2–E4
Agnarr believes he can protect his family by controlling what threatens it. He loves Elsa and Anna deeply, but after the accident, fear begins to shape his decisions. Every choice he makes is intended to protect his daughters, even when those choices unintentionally drive them further apart.
We’re looking for an actor who can balance strength, compassion, and quiet authority. Agnarr should feel like a loving father first and a king second. His mistakes should come from love, not harshness, allowing the audience to understand both his intentions and the unintended consequences of his decisions.
Vocally, Agnarr requires a mature singer with a warm, steady tone, clear diction, and expressive storytelling. While this is not a major vocal role, his voice should feel sincere and grounded, communicating the love he has for his family. Believable chemistry with Iduna, Young Elsa, and Young Anna is essential.
QUEEN IDUNA
Female | Stage Age: 30s–40s | Vocal Range: G3–D5
Iduna sees the strength in Elsa long before Elsa sees it herself. Wise, compassionate, and unwavering in her love for her family, she leads with understanding even in the most difficult moments. While she shares Agnarr’s desire to protect Elsa, she never loses sight of the daughter behind the magic. Her quiet strength and unconditional love become the foundation on which Elsa eventually learns to stand.
We’re looking for an actor who can portray warmth, wisdom, and quiet confidence. Iduna should feel like the steady heart of the family, offering comfort, hope, and reassurance without ever demanding attention. Believable chemistry with Agnarr, Young Elsa, and Young Anna is essential.
Vocally, Iduna requires a mature, exceptional singer with effortless vocal freedom, expressive storytelling, and outstanding musicianship. Her voice should feel like home—warm, reassuring, and deeply comforting. Every musical moment should communicate the love, hope, and quiet strength that define her character. Clear diction is essential, allowing every lyric to draw the audience deeper into the story.
BISHOP
Male | Stage Age: Adult | Vocal Range: C3–E4
The Bishop values tradition above all else. He carries himself with dignity, authority, and quiet confidence, representing the customs and expectations of Arendelle. We’re looking for an actor with a commanding stage presence and a mature, resonant speaking and singing voice. Clear diction, expressive storytelling, and a strong sense of authority are essential.
SVEN
Any Gender | Stage Age: Any | Non-Singing Role
Sven is more than Kristoff’s reindeer—he’s his closest friend and constant companion. Every movement should help the audience believe Sven is thinking, feeling, and reacting in every moment. We’re looking for a highly physical performer with the ability to bring Sven to life through expressive character animation. Because this production uses a Broadway-style Sven costume, physical coordination, puppeteering skills, and precise head movement are essential. Strong chemistry with Kristoff and a commitment to honest, playful storytelling are a must.
THE NORTHERN VOICES
The Northern Voices are one of the most special groups in our production. This select vocal ensemble helps carry the emotional heart of Frozen, adding depth, beauty, and power to many of the show’s most meaningful musical moments. We’re looking for some of our strongest and most mature singers—performers with beautiful tone, excellent musicianship, strong harmony skills, and a genuine love for singing as an ensemble. The beauty of this group isn’t found in one exceptional voice, but in singers who listen to one another, blend seamlessly, and create the kind of rich, unified sound that’s only possible when everyone is committed to making the ensemble greater than themselves.
ARENDELLE DANCERS

Every performer should help make Arendelle feel like a kingdom worth fighting for.

confidently in formal staging, and stay fully engaged throughout the scene.
IN SUMMER TAPPERS
The In Summer Tappers help bring Olaf’s dream of summer to life. We’re looking for strong tap dancers with clean technique, excellent rhythm, musicality, and engaging stage presence. This featured dance group is ideal for performers who love tap and enjoy bringing energy, personality, and joy to the stage.
IN SUMMER BEACH-GOERS
The In Summer Beach-Goers help bring Olaf’s dream of summer to life. We’re looking for performers with vibrant personalities, strong movement skills, and a love for creating fun, memorable characters. This featured ensemble group should fill the stage with energy, imagination, and joyful storytelling while helping create one of the most entertaining moments in the show.
SNOW DANCERS
The Snow Dancers become Elsa’s magic. Through lyrical movement, they give physical life to her emotions, transforming the stage into a world of beauty, wonder, and power. We’re looking for some of our strongest lyrical dancers with beautiful technique, artistry, musicality, and the ability to tell a story through movement. Every movement should feel intentional, expressive, and emotionally connected, helping the audience experience Elsa’s journey in a way that words alone cannot.
HIDDEN FOLK DANCERS
The Hidden Folk are a joyful community built on love and belonging. Their movement should feel grounded, rhythmic, playful, and full of life, drawing inspiration from an Afro-jazz movement style. We’re looking for expressive dancers with strong technique, musicality, and a love for character-driven choreography. More than great dancers, we’re looking for performers who can create the warmth, energy, and unmistakable sense of family that makes the Hidden Folk so memorable.
HIDDEN FOLK CHORUS
The Hidden Folk are a joyful community built on love, belonging, and celebration. We’re looking for expressive performers who move well, sing confidently, and fully embrace character. Performers should be comfortable learning stylized movement and creating the warmth, playfulness, and close-knit family spirit that make the Hidden Folk so memorable.
HYGGE DANCERS
The Hygge Dancers turn Oaken’s Trading Post into one of the most joyful moments in the show. Their choreography is energetic, playful, and full of larger-than-life personality while still requiring strong technique, musicality, and control. We’re looking for confident dancers who fully commit to character, perform with infectious energy, and aren’t afraid to have fun. This number should leave the audience smiling from beginning to end.
HYGGE CHORUS
The Hygge Chorus fills Oaken’s Trading Post with warmth, laughter, and larger-than-life personality. We’re looking for confident singers who can handle energetic character vocals, clear diction, and plenty of movement while fully committing to the comedy. This group should feel like one enormous, slightly chaotic family welcoming Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf.
CASTLE STAFF
The Castle Staff help bring the palace to life and may appear as handmaidens, butlers, housekeepers, cooks, stewards, footmen, and other royal attendants. They serve the royal family, prepare for the coronation, welcome guests, assist with scene transitions, and help create the sense that Arendelle is a busy, functioning kingdom. We’re looking for performers who are focused, expressive, and able to stay fully in character the entire time they are on stage.
ELSA’S SEARCH PARTY
Elsa’s Search Party is determined to find their queen. This featured ensemble group helps create the urgency and tension of Elsa’s disappearance. We’re looking for strong actors who can create believable, committed characters with confident stage presence and purposeful movement.
WESELTON’S ASSISTANTS
Weselton’s Assistants are never far from the Duke’s side. They’re quick to carry out his orders, support his exaggerated sense of importance, and add personality to many of his scenes. We’re looking for performers with strong character acting skills, expressive reactions, and a willingness to fully commit to the comedy.
