New York City, 1899. Jack Kelly leads a group of newsboys struggling to make a living when newspaper prices rise and the young sellers are left powerless. With the help of spirited reporter Katherine Plummer, they form a union and strike against the powerful publisher Joseph Pulitzer. Inspired by the true 1899 Newsboys Strike, Newsies is a joyful, energetic musical about courage, unity, and standing up for what’s right, featuring Harvey Fierstein’s witty book, Alan Menken and Jack Feldman’s unforgettable songs—including Seize the Day, Santa Fe, and Watch What Happens.
