National Youth Theater Teen Camps consist of dancing, singing, and acting. We ask that all Teen Campers wear dance appropriate attire to camp.

What is “dance appropriate attire”? In short, here’s what we expect:
FEMALES: Either leggings and a leotard OR a tight-fitting cami and biker shorts under
regular athletic clothes, like a shirt OR shorts OR both.  When not actively dancing, we expect females to wear something over their legging/leotard combo.  A shirt, jacket, or jacket tied around the waist will work.
MALES: Biker/compression shorts under your athletic pants/shorts and a tight-fitting
tank top or t-shirt.

Specifics for FEMALES:
The leggings must be regular leggings, not the “butt lifting leggings” that are excessively tight. LEOTARDS for all ages must be fitted, must have a back that reaches at or above the bra-line, and must be solid throughout (no chiffon or see-through areas). Make sure that the leotard does not show any cleavage. Sports bras are also to be worn under the leotard, if needed.

• When not actively dancing, we ask students to please bring a t-shirt to wear over
your leotard or jacket to tie around their waist, but it is not required in dance
rehearsal (although both are allowed).

  • If athletic shorts are preferred, they *MUST* have modest-length biker shorts
    underneath.
  • Girls wearing leggings and a leotard do not need an additional “costume base” for
rehearsals; your leggings and leo can be your “costume base.” If you do not have
leggings and a leo, your costume base would be biker shorts and a fitted tank top
to go under your regular/athletic clothing.
  • Either leggings and a leotard OR regular clothes with a costume base underneath is
    required for rehearsals.
  • No inappropriate messages or images on clothing (no crude language, provocative
    images, etc.).

Specifics for MALES:

  • Boys may wear athletic shorts/athletic pants that are not excessively tight, along
with biker shorts or compression shorts underneath as a “costume base.”
  • For a top, boys may wear either a loose t-shirt with a fitted shirt underneath (as a
costume base) or just a fitted t-shirt only. Tank tops are also acceptable with the
same guidelines (no tank tops with open sides)
  • No inappropriate messages or images on clothing (no crude language, provocative images, etc.)
