NYT Free Audition Workshops & Grand Opening Event
Whether you’re brand new to theater or preparing for your next audition, National Youth Theater is offering two exciting opportunities this August. Join us for free audition training, meet NYT staff and directors, and learn more about upcoming productions and classes.
FREE Audition Workshop
Date: August 4, 2026
Time: 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Cost: Free
Build Confidence. Learn Audition Skills. Have Fun.
Students will receive practical audition training designed to help them feel confident and prepared for future theater opportunities. This workshop is perfect for both new and experienced performers.
Who Should Attend?
- Students ages 8–19
- First-time auditioners
- Current theater students
- Performers interested in NYT productions and classes
What You’ll Learn
- Audition preparation tips – groups rotate through vocals, drama, dance
- Vocal and acting fundamentals
- Confidence-building exercises
Parent Information Meeting (6:00–7:00 p.m.)
Parents are highly encouraged to attend the informational meeting led by Education Director Jessica Kotrla.
Topics will include:
- The NYT audition process
- What to expect during rehearsals and productions
- Tips for helping your child prepare for auditions
- Information about NYT classes and performance opportunities
- A Q&A session to answer parent questions
Grand Opening Celebration at the NYT Arts Center in Conroe
Open House & Free Audition Workshop
Celebrate the opening of the new NYT Arts Center and experience National Youth Theater’s new home in Conroe. Families are invited to tour the facility, meet instructors and directors, and participate in a free audition workshop.

What You’ll Learn

Students may register for individual coaching sessions with an NYT director.
Cost: $25 per student
Each student should come prepared with a 1-minute song selection. During the session, students will participate in:
- Performance of a 1-minute song
- Cold reading exercise
- Individualized feedback and coaching
- Audition tips and guidance from an NYT director
These one-on-one sessions are designed to help students strengthen their audition skills, build confidence, and gain valuable insight into the audition process in a supportive and encouraging environment.
